Oak Center Urban Renewal Plan -- Amended February 2006
Five-Year
Implementation Plan 2004-2009
Oak Center Progress Report - January 2008
The Oak Center Redevelopment Project is a 56–block residential community in West Oakland, adjacent to downtown and the Acorn and West Oakland Redevelopment Projects. The Oak Center Redevelopment Project was adopted in 1970 and is one of the City of Oakland’s oldest redevelopment areas. Since then, Oak Center’s many turn-of-the-century Victorian have been preserved through multiple efforts and a variety of financing techniques. The Oak Center Redevelopment Project is mostly complete. Oak Center redevelopment funds were used recently for repairs and upgrades to the de Fremery Recreation Center and Pool House. The Oak Center Historical Marker Project is presently in progress and will construct a series of signs, lighting and markers to delineate the Oak Center Historical District and its many historical homes.
